Voyager la aventura de ser bibliotecario

Aunque no todos hemos utilizado el sistema de catálogo en línea Voyager, todos hemos escuchado hablar del mismo en múltiples ocasiones. Este sistema integrado de manejo tiene elementos que comunican los procesos de compra, catalogación y circulación para ofrecer un servicio de excelencia en las bibliotecas. Un gran número de Universidades se han cambiado de otros sistemas automatizados y están utilizando Voyager. ¿Pero será este el más eficiente? ¿Cómo saber que sistema escoger y cuál es el más apropiado para su biblioteca? En esta sección proveeré hermientas para identificar los elementos que demuestran cuan valuable es un sistema y algunos consejitos al trabajar con Voyager.

Bienvenidos al blog del Bibliotecario Moderno
La imagen del bibliotecario está cambiando, ya no solemos ser esa persona concentrada, sentada en frente de un mostrador y que constantemente está imponiendo el silencio en la Biblioteca. Ahora vemos a un bibliotecario activo, creando páginas web, produciendo herramientas de valor añadido y haciendo ruido para motivar e integrar la lectura en la vida de las personas. El lema de este año (2006) para la semana de la biblioteca era presisamente "Change your world @ your library" (Cambia tu mundo en tu biblioteca), y es que este lema ahora acuñado va acorde con los cambios de imagen del bibliotecario y de las bibliotecas.
Les invito a examinar esta bibliografía y a copratir sus ideas en torno al cambio en la profesión del bibliotecario y la nueva imagen que se proyecta del mismo en un mundo donde abunda la tecnología, la referencia virtual y la proliferación de los recursos en línea. ¿Quién es y cómo se proyecta el Bibliotecario Moderno?
